History Channel gives new show to Larry the Cable Guy

by Danny Gallagher, posted Jan 25th 2010 4:05PM
Once again, I'm forced to ask the question: what the hell is going on here? Have we crossed over into the bizarro world? Is up now down? Has black become white? Did NBC give Jay Leno a swift kick in the ass for scoring such low ratings and replaced him with Chevy Chase?

The History Channel is giving comedian Larry the Cable Guy his own travelogue show.

The comic told Punchline Magazine that The United States of Larry will feature the large forearmed funnymaker traveling the States in search of "folks with interesting jobs, hobbies and ways of life." So what part of that involves history? Has one of the "interesting" people have created some sort of time machine?

@marcdom7: I acknowledged that AND the sordid state of THC. I still resent his blue collar = trailer trash statement. I prefer disparaging comments about workers be directed at "government workers", an oxymoron, if there ever was one.

@ Michael: Thanks for demonstrating your grasp of the obvious, as it relates to linear time. Somewhere between "all Nazis, all the time" and "let's watch people work" is where we'd probably BOTH like to see The History Channel. It won't happen. History Int'l is better. Hope you get that channel. Also, the Military Channel has, on occasion, aired numerous history related programs.

MY point was directed at the previous comment which stated that "Ax men, Ice road truckers ... " were trailer trash. Any student of history knows not all history is made by the self proclaimed cream of the crop.

He wasn't saying that trailer trash don't make history. He was commenting on the caliber of the reality (present non-historic) programming and their focus.

Ax Men, Ice Road Truckers, Pawn Stars, Pickers, Life After People (or, as I prefer to call it, "Buildings Falling Down") and now this abomination. When did the History Channel become the Trailer Trash Channel?
