The good news keeps on coming for Director Marc Webb. One week ago, he was picked to helm the upcoming 'Spider-Man' reboot, and now, the hot young director has a pilot coming out for Fox.According to the Hollywood Reporter, Webb will be directing a pilot called 'Midland.' The pilot will be a soap opera set in Texas oil-country, featuring a protagonist who is a "polygamist leading a double life." (Which makes sense, if you think about it. It'd be hard to be a polygamist and not lead some kind of double life.)
That's about all the information that is currently available for the pilot, but to us, it basically sounds like 'Big Love' meets 'Dallas.' Or even 'Big Love' meets 'There Will Be Blood' ... maybe.

Marc Webb started out in music videos, but became well-known for his hipster-ish romantic comedy '500 Days of Summer,' starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. The comedy gave him sufficient momentum in Hollywood to be tapped for the 'Spider-Man' reboot movie, which will center around the life of young Peter Parker as he attempts to balance life in high school with the demands of being a superhero.
Webb replaced Sam Raimi as director of the 'Spider-Man' franchise, after Raimi refused to direct 'Spider-Man 4.' So, although we are cautiously excited for the 'Midland' pilot, we remain more excited about the idea of a Spider-Man movie directed by a young, faintly twee director. We're also very excited for the inevitable huge amount of puns based around the new movie and the director's last name. ('Webb of Spider-Man,' anyone? Or how about, 'Did Anyone Call for a Webb-Slinger'?)
