Carrie Underwood to Sing National Anthem at Super Bowl

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 'American Idol' winner has been selected to perform the National Anthem during the televised game, following in the footsteps of past 'Idol' champs Jordin Sparks and Jennifer Hudson.

Underwood has quickly built up her TV resume over the past couple of months. Late last year, she starred in the FOX's 'Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special,' featuring celebrity appearances by Christina Applegate and Kristin Chenoweth. In March, she'll guest on the CBS comedy 'How I Met Your Mother,' playing Tiffany, a pharmaceutical sales rep and love interest for Ted.

Super Bowl XLIV airs live Sun., Feb. 7, 6PM on CBS.
