'Parks and Recreation,' 'Jersey Shore' Renewed

NBC's low-rated but critically-acclaimed series 'Parks and Recreation' will return for a third season.According to the Wrap, the series -- starring 'SNL' alum Amy Poehler -- received a pick-up order late last evening, on the heels of news that NBC had extended its current season by a handful of episodes.
Airing during NBC's Thursday-night comedy bloc, 'Parks' has averaged 5.1 million viewers this season and a 2.3 rating among adults 18-49, according to the report.
Also getting a late-night pick-up order was the smash hit 'Jersey Shore.' Snooki, The Situation and the rest of the crew will return for a second season, following a week of contract negotiations with MTV.

But don't go stalking Seaside Heights just yet. According to a network press release, the 'Jersey' gang will "escape the cold Northeast and find themselves in a new destination." for its second season. 12 episodes have been ordered for a mid-to-late-summer launch.
