Kelly Cutrone Talks 'Kell On Earth,' Stephanie Pratt and ... Martha Stewart?

Kelly CutroneFashion publicist Kelly Cutrone -- until now known as Lauren Conrad's former boss on 'The Hills' and the one always conveniently crossing paths with Whitney Port on 'The City' -- is not quite the blatant antagonist she's made out to be on MTV. She's more like a sheep in wolf's clothing instead of the other way around.

I'm not saying she isn't a force -- she most certainly is -- but she also wears $5 Target flip-flops to cocktail parties, name drops Martha Stewart and tells me to call her "anytime -- we'll blog together." (OK, come to think of it, that last bit could very well have been a slam against me and my job. And yet, I still like her. Damn, she's good.)Kelly CutroneFashion publicist Kelly Cutrone -- until now known as Lauren Conrad's former boss on 'The Hills' and the one always conveniently crossing paths with Whitney Port on 'The City' -- is not quite the blatant antagonist she's made out to be on MTV. But with her own reality TV show, 'Kell On Earth,' premiering on Bravo (Mon., Feb. 1, 10PM ET), we had to know -- how will this show be different from the fluff of bicoastal early 20s melodrama? Can she set aside her mean boss image a bit in order to keep things fun for eight one-hour episodes? And, of course, we'd be completely missing out if we didn't ask about Stephanie Pratt, who always seems to be Cutrone's favorite punching bag. Enjoy!

Your moments on 'The Hills' with Stephanie Pratt are so classic. Those alone make me happy you have your own show.
That was the real deal though! That was like a real meeting between us, which was really funny. Because I never read resumes -- it's kind of a rule, I usually just go psychically on the person. But when I looked down and it said "Objective: to become a handbag designer," I almost wet my pants. I was like, "What are we doing here?" [Laughs] And I said to Lauren like "WTF?" And then the other thing that was weird, which made it seem like I was being really mean, was it said "Other skill set," and she was like "Fluent in French." So, I started speaking to her in French, and guess what? She's not! [Laughs] I was like, "Oh my god ... this is just bad, bad, bad."

But she's good TV ...
I like Pratt. I like her as a person. She just shouldn't be in PR.

Have you given up on those MTV shows altogether now?
You know, I'm still on 'The City' -- we're shooting season 3 right now, which I'm happy about. That's Whitney's show, and I'm there to support Whitney on that show. But this is my show.

But you were officially a "cast member" on those shows -- meaning, you're on that show because you were cast to be on that show. Right?
Well, when you're a cast member, it means that they have the right for "X" amount of episodes to come into your life. And out of all the things that are happening in your life -- which you may or may not know what's going on -- they'll choose to focus on some of those things to accommodate their storyline. But we don't create moments for their storyline. We have our calendar, and then they go, "Oh Donna Karan! We definitely want to cover that." So that's how it works.

And how is this show different from the MTV way? Is it all real?
Yeah -- 'Kell On Earth' on Bravo is a look at my office and my employees and what we're doing on a regular basis. It's mostly in New York, but we go to London on the show, which is kind of fun. My two girlfriends, Robyn and Emily, who work for and with me -- they're partners in the company ... well, my daughter's father lives in London, so we decide we're all gonna get married to him. We adopt him and he has to date all of us ... it's funny.

So ... I guess that's real. Now what other real familiar faces will we see on the show?

Oh my god, there's so many people! Andre Leon Talley, Martha Stewart, Ashford & Simpson, Jeremy Scott, Henry Holland, Rachel Roy, a gazillion million stylists, so many fashion designers, Ralph Rucci, DKNY ... there's a ton of people.
