Not to suggest that CBS already has a drama-heavy primetime schedule, what with three 'CSI' franchises, two 'NCIS' franchises, 'Cold Case,' 'Criminal Minds' and so on, but the Eye is greenlighting two more drama pilots.

Per the Hollywood Reporter, CBS has ordered one pilot for a police procedural called 'Reagan's Law,' which traces the lives of several generations of New York City police officers. The show has been developed by a pair of vets from 'The Sopranos,' Mitchell Burgess and Robin Green, who are linking up with Leonard Goldberg of CBS TV for all of the executive producing duties.

Meantime, CBS is also ordering the pilot for a new medical drama with roots in the 'ER' mode. In fact, the project is the idea of John Wells (pictured), who executive produced 'ER,' and whose credits also include 'Third Watch' and 'The West Wing.'

The as-yet-untitled drama aims to shake up the format of the medical-drama genre by taking the characters out of the hospital entirely. As described, rather than being set in one place, the show will follow a medical team crossing the country to help those in the most desperate need of assistance. Hannah Shakespeare, a onetime story editor for 'Ghost Whisperer,' inked the pilot and is executive producing in tandem with Wells.
