Review: 'Two and a Half Men' - 'Crude and Uncalled For'

by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 2nd 2010 9:01AM
charlie_sheen_fetal_position_cbs(S07E14) Uh oh -- has Charlie made a critical error in his relationship with Chelsea? It depends on how to look at it, but the Humpster misplayed the situation in this episode and that "to be continued" at the end suggests that something wicked may be coming.

On the plus side, it looks like Alan won't be losing his man-cherry in the slammer, and Jake has a future in horror movie sound effects.

Alan has shown more talent on his man-dates with Herb than the Internet dates he's had. He was in rare form with the latest eHarmony hook-up, talking socks and sex. If he still had his ventriloquist's dummy, he would have pulled it out. But Alan did show us something we'd never seen from him before. The monster. Okay, it was just one lucky punch, but still...

Could the Harpers have given Chelsea a worse view of their dysfunctional family than what she saw during this episode? Selfish, rutting Charlie. Needy schmuck Alan. Unloving, cold Evelyn. Disinterested Jake. They all came off as shallow and crass. Funny, yes, but Chelsea was dazzled by the lawyer's altruistic qualities and grown up qualities. Charlie only cared about his wasted erection and missing a chance to get some nookie.

The Chelsea character could never come back and that would be fine. And it could be hilarious, too. Charlie has rarely been the person crapped on in life. Her returning the ring and choosing not to marry him would be a major rejection. Charlie could use a midlife crisis like that and the way Lorre would write it, there would be lots of comic implications.

Guess we'll find out if Chelsea comes back...

Other points of interest
-- Did you get the impression that Charlie and Evelyn have had that negotiation before about who gets to save Alan's ass?

-- Since when does Charlie hate children? Charlie Waffles should still be his main source of income, even if he doesn't do the concerts anymore.

-- If Charlie thinks being married is having sex as often as he wants to, he's out of his head. Doesn't matter how much Viagra he takes.

-- No Berta.

-- When Charlie talked about spending time in the Beverly Hills jail, it seemed more like Charlie Sheen than Charlie Harper talking.

You print the word "fags" without a blink - but you feel it necessary to print "bitch" as "b***h." Who, if anybody, sets the standards, if any?

I agree Chelsa is a waste of air time, Every wife and full time girlfriend on TVshows is always written to be total b****s all they ever do is treat the men like stupid misfits. I'm sure some women are like that but not all are harpies like Chelsea,Deborah Barone,Jill Taylor, Carrie Heffernan to name a few. The name of all these sitcoms could have been the B***h and the bumbling Fool.

2.5 Men used to be a good show, but it has become a cesspool of sexual sludge, inuendo, vulgarity and crudeness. It is certainly not for children and needs to be moved to a later time slot, may be Craig Ferguson.
The show is obviously pushing the envelope toward pornography. Come on CBS, wakeup!

Oh please, Gimme a break! Two and a half Men is no more "sexual, vulgar, or crude" than it has been since the very first episode. My 81 year old "Catholic" mother wait's for Monday's to watch her two favorite show's,
Two and a Half Men, and Big Bang Theory. I'm 56 yrs. my son is 26 yrs. old, and the three of us have a conference call every Monday after the show's so we can laugh with each other. As for Craig Ferguson, I watch him every night, have you ever noticed how many times he's censored during each show. These show's are comedies! You know, a break from the reality of real life. If you can't handle it, turn your T.V. off and read your Bible. Randy808

We are humans. Humans have sex. Sex is the way of life. And if you dont like it on T.V. then you might as well complain about the millions of other shows that have it. By the way Jake is a teenager, he is going to be into sex whether he likes it or not. And for those of you that complain about the show, well no one is making you watch it, so quit complaining and watch something else like Elmo, or Dora the Explorer, I am pretty sure they don't have any sex or bad language.

Love the show. However, lately it seems Alan has lost his wardrobe and is seen mostly running around in jockeys. If he must run around half nude please put boxers on him. Jockeys are disgusting!

21/2 used to be my favorite show. I did like it better when Charlie was not pretending to be in a relationship and before Chelsea who could not possibly be that stupid to stay with him. It got too gross for me when Allan started doing his scenes in his briefs. I think they are gross, show way more than I want to see and are not sexy like bikinis would be.

I agree with Chingbow. This show has terrific writers, and extraordinary acting. Why can't they use this talent without all of the crudness and porno? I love the story lines. But, there is way too many embarrassing moments. You could easily insinuate things without all the sexual drama. and potty mouthing.
And Jake should not be exposed to all of this. Do they take precautions?? It is a wonder that child protection agencies haven't gotten after them.
I hate to see all of this talent go to waste, but I am signing off if their is another season.

Chelsea needs to go, Alan is hysterical, Charlie is turning into a bore. Berta is great. Get away from the SEX all the time.

I liked the show at first. Now it is just Sex, Sex, Sex. Do we have to be in the gutter all the time to have a laugh? I guess we do on this show. I am done. No more watching 2 1/2 men.
