Variety reports that the writing duo of Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who penned last summer's box office smashes 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' and 'Star Trek,' have inked a three year deal with the television studio.

Although a specific project isn't lined up, their duties will be twofold: coming up with show ideas as well as recruiting and managing a chosen stable of writers to help in development. In terms of television success, the two's previous experience links back to J.J. Abrams: they've served as producers for 'Alias' and 'Fringe' for several years, but have been most successful on the big screen.

"One of the things that drew us back to TV was the idea that we could do the kind of stories that we're not known for in features," Orci told Variety. "From sci-fi to procedurals to medical genres, those are all the kind of shows that we love."

As previously reported, Kurtzman and Orci are overseeing the 'Hawaii Five-O' reboot alongside 'CSI:NY' executive producer Peter Lenkov. They're also reviving the 'Transformers' animated series, for the new Discovery/Hasbro venture, the Hub.
