'We Are the World' Remade for Haitian Relief

we_are_the_world_25th_anniversaryOver 80 stars from the music and entertainment world gathered in Los Angeles on Monday to remake the classic benefit recording 'We Are the World,' and this time the victims of the Haitian earthquake will receive aid as a result of this song's sale and download.

What makes this remake so exciting is that here it is 25 years later and an entire new group of musicians took part, including Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Pink, the Black Eyed Peas, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Harry Connick, Toni Braxton, Snoop Dogg, Jason Mraz, Josh Groban, Tony Bennett, LL Cool J, Jonas Brothers... whew! The news might be that Lady Gaga couldn't make it.

Unlike the original 'We Are the World' which was an MTV staple, the new version is getting a big launch on February 12 on NBC. It will be included in the opening ceremonies for the Winter Olympics, and chances are, you'll be able to see it in 3-D. Director Paul Haggis was there filming it and they were using the latest 3-D technology.

By the way, if you look at the photo and wonder about the strange placement of Barbra Streisand, you're not alone. Some blogs today were wondering if Barbra was even there because her image seems Photoshopped. According to blogger Roger Friedman who was in the studio, Streisand was indeed there and sang a solo. She then joined the chorus and sang with the group. However, for whatever reason, they didn't get a good photo with everybody looking in the same direction, hence the weird image.

Did you really call the remake of We Are The World exciting? It's just another vehicle for celebutards to make themselves feel good and boost their own ego.
