Katie Couric, CBS Get in a Contract Catfight

by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 3rd 2010 4:36PM
Katie Couric may smile 24 hours a day, but her latest contract negotiations with CBS have given her a reason to cut that back to around 23 hours and 50 minutes a day.

The network wants to cut back the 'CBS Evening News' anchor's tremendous $15 million salary, a move that makes a lot of sense since they recently laid off around 150 people and her broadcast has been placing a disappointing third since she took the job.

And while it seems unlikely that Couric will bolt, it isn't completely out of the realm of possibility since neither she nor the network have completely dismissed the idea.

Katie M.

Agree with notamused-- try being a little less sexist the next time you talk about women-- especially intelligent women at the top of their field.

Dear CBS,
Could you pass the following message on to Ms Couric, Don't let the door hit you where the Good Lord split you. You could make my year CBS.

Would you say Brian Williams is in a "contract catfight" with NBC? Probably not. Just saying.
