If you've been in denial about 'Lost' coming to an end this season, it's time to face reality. Executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse announced on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12:05AM ET on ABC) that the 'Lost' series finale will air Sun., May 23 on ABC.

After the announcement Kimmel asked, "Then May 30 the 'Hurley and the Smoke Monster' spin-off starts?" But the producers were genuinely thankful for the opportunity to drive the show toward an end goal with complete creative control. Cuse told Kimmel, "The reason I think that anybody even cares about 'Lost' is that we announced an end date three years ago. We are eternally grateful ... to end the show on our own terms and I think that made all the difference in terms of 'Lost' being the show that it still is."
