Melissa Rycroft Joins 'Entertainment Tonight' as Special Correspondent

The incredible trajectory of Melissa Rycroft goes on.

PEOPLE reports that the former 'Bachelor' contestant has been named a special correspondent for 'Entertainment Tonight.' As part of the job, Rycroft will cover a number of assignments for the entertainment program, including premieres, award shows, set visits and Hollywood parties.

Just a year ago, the former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader was one of 25 women vying for Jason Mesnick's heart on season 13 of 'The Bachelor.' Rycroft won it, of course -- but not for long. During the show's reunion special, Mesnick revealed that he had lingering feelings for runner-up Molly Malaney, then dumped Rycroft on national television (Mesnick and Malaney have since announced plans to wed as part of an ABC special, set to air Mar. 8.)

While the break-up left Rycroft heartbroken, it appears to have done wonders for her career. Following the reunion, she segued right into season 8 of 'Dancing with the Stars,' replacing Nancy O'Dell of 'Access Hollywood,' who withdrew after an injury. Rycroft and partner Tony Dovolani finished in third place.

Afterward, 'Good Morning America' hired Rycroft to be a special correspondent during the summer of 2009.

Also last June, Rycroft announced her engagement to longtime boyfriend Tye Strickland, a Dallas insurance agent, whom she later married in December. She then wrapped up her amazing 2009 by joining the team of ABC's 'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest' special.

Already, 2010 is looking to be an even better year for Rycroft.
