On today's 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated), an unsuspecting fan is brought onto the set and given a helping hand -- and promptly freaks out.

"You're earning $500 a month ... and you're short $1,500 month on bills," DeGeneres tells Tricia. She reaches behind her couch. "We want you to be able to sleep at night. Here's $10,000." Tricia goes wild. Then DeGeneres brings out Tricia's husband. "You're both trying to work and share a car and that's hard, so we're going to give you a 2010 GMC Terrain."

Oh, the joy of giving ... and receiving.
