What to Watch: February 8 - 14

by Stephanie Earp, posted Feb 8th 2010 8:00AM

2010 Olympics Opening Ceremonies
- Friday February 12, 6 pm PST, CTV

Vancouver introduces Canada to the world on Friday with the 2010 Olympic Winter Games Opening Ceremonies, the details of which are a closely guarded secret. No one besides the organizers and performers are sure exactly what to expect, but I'm guessing 'spectacular' and 'great pride for this nation' and 'unique history' will get thrown around a lot in the commentating.

Also This Week:

The Biggest Loser - Tuesday February 9, 8 pm, Citytv/NBC

It's an Olympic-themed episode this week, with guest appearances from various Olympians, including skiers Julia Mancuso and Jeret Peterson, skaters Rockne Brubaker and J.R. Celski, and paralympian Allison Jones.

Survivor - Thursday February 11, 8 pm, Global/CBS

The new season of 'Survivor' features one of my favourite players ever - Rob Mariano, aka The Robfather. My affection for Rob was born during the All-Stars season, and managed to last through an in-person interview with him when he was on 'The Amazing Race'. But they say you can't go home again - and I wonder if Rob will manage to run the board again this time. It would be sort of sad to see him lose.

30 Rock - Thursday February 11, 9:30 pm, Citytv/NBC

Electing to go with a Valentine's Day theme rather than an Olympic one (which is surprising, since NBC is the official broadcaster of the Games in the US), '30 Rock' is the latest stop on the Elizabeth Banks guest-starring tour of network television 2009-2010. Which could be an Olympic event in itself, I suppose. She plays a love interest for Jack. And, just as an afterthought, Jon Bon Jovi shows up.
