New TV DVDs for Feb. 9: 'JAG,' 'Sarah Silverman' and More

Ah, Valentine's Day. Yes, this weekend is the perfect time for candies and flowers and snuggling up on the couch with that special someone to share in the romantic glow of your giant HDTV as you watch the flashing neon signs of the new 'Vega$' DVD.

Okay, so maybe romance is dead after all, because judging from this week's pre-Valentine releases, Hollywood isn't in a very loving mood. But while nothing says "be mine" like giving your significant other a complete set of 'JAG,' we thought we'd go ahead and present our Singles guide to the top DVD issues of the week. Because as long as you have 'Gary Unmarried' at your fingertips, you'll never be alone.Ah, Valentine's Day. Because as long as you have 'Gary Unmarried' at your fingertips, you'll never be alone.

You'll just wish you were.

Okay, maybe that was a low blow, but it does seem a bit cynical of ABC to release the post-divorce sitcom 'Gary Unmarried' on Valentine's Day. But if for some reason you want to put the brakes on your evening of romance and check out a sobering look at the lifelong consequences of a dating mistake, then perhaps 'Gary Unmarried: The Complete First Season' will do the trick.

Sarah Silverman, of course, is someone who knows a thing or two about messy breakups, as her on-again, off-again relationship with Jimmy Kimmel (and Matt Damon) shows. But there's no sign of it on 'The Sarah Silverman Program,' as you can see for yourself with 'Sarah Silverman Program: Season Two, Vol. 2.'

A little farther away from the third rail of love is 'JAG,' which has finally issued 'JAG: The Final Season.' That, in turn, means they can finally issue 'JAG: The Complete Series.' Now if only we could convince Universal Studios to open that 'JAG: The Interactive Experience' ride...

And there's no telling what those buttoned up folks at the Judge Advocate General might think of 'Army Wives,' but we have a feeling if they got a load of 'Army Wives: The Complete Third Season' that there might be some some disciplinary action handed down. Just a guess.

In the future, of course, military wives will have even more to worry about, what with those wormholes taking their loved ones to distant universes to battle strange, alien menaces. At least, assuming the future looks anything like 'Stargate Universe;' you can see this terrifying possibility thanks to the cryptically titled 'Stargate SG-U: 1.0.'

There's no easy way to segue from 'Stargate Universe' to 'The Patty Duke Show,' so we'll just say that another issue this week is 'The Patty Duke Show: Season Two.' See, that was relatively painless.

Lastly, the DVD set you've been eagerly anticpiating since we mentioned it in our opening is finally here, just a few paragraphs later: 'Vega$,' one of the underrated gems in television history, brings you a double dose of Robert Urich andBart Braverman with 'Vega$; The First Season, Volume 2.' Because this much awesome is too much for one volume to contain.
