Paul Reiser Is Thinking About a Return to NBC
Paul Reiser, one of the stars of NBC's "Must See TV" heyday of the 1990s, is reportedly returning to the Peacock Network. Thankfully, he's not producing a hokey reality game show like his pal, Jerry Seinfeld. Reiser, co-creator and star of NBC's hit sitcom 'Mad About You', is executive producing and starring in a new single-camera pilot backed by Warner Bros. Word is that NBC has picked up the project, possibly to help fill the coming gaps in its schedule thanks to Leno's return to late night.
Being a fan of 'Mad About You' – and one of the few saps who actually bought and read one of Reiser's silly little guides to modern life – I'm looking forward to seeing the guy head back to TV, even if this just sounds like an attempt by NBC to recapture its former glory.
What can we expect from Reiser's new show? The story details haven't leaked yet, but I doubt he'll stray too far from fluffy relationship and family comedy.
Let's hope Reiser can lure some top-notch talent to the new gig, like he's done with his previous projects. His past co-stars include Oscar winner Helen Hunt, the legendary Peter Falk, and a talented Border Collie mix named Murray.
