Variety
is reporting that the network has renewed the summer reality series 'Shaq Vs.' for a second season. Expect Shaquille O'Neal to reprise his role as challenger against a host of different professional athletes in their own sports, as well as some new competitions outside his usual realm, including competitive eating and, of all things, spelling bees.

The first season featured Shaq facing off against Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, pro Beach volleyballers Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor, boxer Oscar de la Hoya, St. Louis Cardinals' Albert Pujos and swimming great Michael Phelps. He lost every competition -- but we're thinking that the 7'1'' Shaq can surely put away some food, so perhaps competitive eating will be a slam dunk.

More so, the return of 'Shaq Vs.' marks the first pick up from Media Rights Capital, the media conglomerate behind such shows as 'The Ricky Gervais Show' and 'The Goode Family.' While no specific athletes are lined up for the next round of 'Shaq Vs.,' there are reportedly a number of athletes who expressed interest in appearing on the show.

Last year, 'Shaq Vs.' debuted on August 18 and averaged around 4 million viewers per episode. Producers have to work around Shaq's basketball commitments -- which could easily extend into June, due to the upcoming playoffs -- so expect another late-summer premiere date.
