25 Things You Didn't Know About ... Seinfeld
Think you know everything there is to know about 'Seinfeld'? Ok, maybe you do, but for the rest of us, TV Guide Channel put together a special called '25 Things You Didn't Know About ... Seinfeld.'For example, Elaine isn't the only one who can work for J. Peterman. In fact, J. Peterman is a real person with a real catalog that 'Seinfeld' just happened to make famous. And John O'Hurley, who played J. Peterman on the show, actually bought the company a year after Seinfeld ended, bringing it out of bankruptcy to co-own it with J. Peterman himself.
Also, 'Seinfeld' co-creator Larry David provided the voice for George Steinbrenner. During the time that George Costanza worked for the Yankees, we never saw Steinbrenner's face, but that voice we heard? It was Larry David's voice. In fact, Steinbrenner was scheduled to play himself in the season finale that year, but the scene was cut.
No one touched 'The Contest' script. Despite the subject matter and the fact that it could have been censored up the ying-yang, the network let the script go through untouched, which shocked Larry David to no end.
Here are a few clips from the TV Guide Channel special. Pay close attention because our own Joel Keller offers his take on a few things. And TV Guide actually approached him to do it -- how cool is that?!
The one-hour special premieres tonight at 8PM ET, and again throughout the week.
