It's a fitting title for Bigelow to direct, as she's in the middle of a pretty incredible year herself. Earlier this month, she became just the fourth woman to be nominated for a Best Director Oscar and, after winning the DGA, is expected to take home the coveted prize on March 7. If successful, Bigelow would become the first woman in history to win in that category.

Meanwhile, Logan has penned some of the most popular films of the last decade, including 'Gladiator' and 'The Aviator,' for which he received Oscar nominations. This will mark his first foray into television.

'The Miraculous Year' joins a slew of pilots recently acquired by HBO, including Jonathan Demme's 'The Long Fall,' Bill Condon's 'Tilda' and an untitled project based on the Pamela Des Barres memoir 'I'm With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie,' starring Zooey Deschanel.
