FX Moves 'Louie' Debut to June

by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 17th 2010 9:35PM
Poor Louie. He can never catch a break. I'm referring to both the show and the character.

Louis C.K.'s FX sitcom 'Louie' was supposed to hit the airwaves in the first part of 2010, but the network has decided to bump the show until the summer, according to a released statement.

The news isn't as bad as it sounds. The network wants to pair the show with the return of 'Rescue Me' in June to give it a better chance at a big lead-in. Would you have watched Louis C.K.'s new show either way?

Yeah, will certainly watch Louie. Too bad about the wait.

FWIW, I hated 'Lucky Louie' at first but I kept watching and soon loved it. Not for everyone but it is a great show.

Further, I bought my first comedy record in probably 15 years recently when I got his record "Chewed Up." It's really, really funny. I listen to it all the time.

Kind of amusing that Leary will be Louis's lead in since Leary stole his single biggest comedy bit from Louis years and years ago. http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=63540 Either way I will be watching "Louie" and not Leary... and I loved Lucky Louie for the record.

Kinda torn. Louis CK is by far the funniest comedian I have seen in a long time. That being said, I thought Lucky Louis was a piece of shit. I will give it another chance though.

It boggles my mind when people say this. The show was more or less his stand-up put to skits! I mean, like what you want but to me they are parts of the same whole.

Ok first of all Bruce go back to watching Larry the cable guy. I normally don't argue with people online but the fact you called Louis C.K. "average" demonstrates your ignorance. He is one of the greatest writers, as well as, stand-up comedians we have right now. Also his material is some of the most frequently stolen by other more popular comedians. You just hit a nerve Bruce, it's not personal. Next the Lucky Louie show on HBO was fantastic, but it was paired with Entourage which carries a much different audience, and it didn't do that well ratings wise. That being said, the writing was fantastic and the supporting cast was very solid. Maybe the bigger budget of FX might help out a little.

I don't find him that funny, though there are certainly worse, less funny comedians out there. He's just very average in my opinion.

But let's put it this way... if his show ("Lucky Louie") didn't work on HBO in an uncensored format with both bad words and "grown-up" topics, why would I watch a censored version on basic cable? I assume it's the same premise, him playing the same basic character with the same basic family, friends and plot devices.

It just stinks of unoriginality and I haven't even seen it. I wonder how many shows throughout TV history have had the title "Louie"? My guess would be at least a dozen.

Either way. Louie CK is one of the funniest writer/comedians out there. I don't even watch the Dennis Leary show.
