Will the Last of 'Scrubs' Be Burned Off in March?

by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 17th 2010 6:02PM
ScrubsIt has been an odd season for 'Scrubs.' Lots of new cast members, debate on whether another season was even needed, and now we're in the middle of a six week hiatus for the show. Now comes word from The Futon Critic that ABC will pretty much burn off the last two episodes of this season next month. The two episodes are titled "Our Driving Issues" (March 10) and "Our Thanks" (March 17).

ABC still hasn't said anything about the show coming back. Would you like to see another season?

Scrubs is such a fantastic show. No doubt about it. I remember seeing it from the very first day it aired.

And now look at the shows course. It started out as a beautiful and hilarious show. In the seventh season it came a little out of hand due to the Guild Writers Strike. In the eighth season everything just managed to change in some way.

The ninth season has the biggest change ever! Now, I like the idea of the new cast. I think they've done really well and the characters (minus Lucy) can actually pull the show together. What I miss a lot - actually, my heart's missing it - is the tremendous endings Scrubs had. No sad endings such as season three where they made one of the best episodes ever. 'My Screw Up' was an amazing episode! So was 'My Catalyst'. Other seasons had those sad endings as well (I remember in particular 'My Cabbage' and 'My Lunch' in season five).

I think the new cast has great potential - now we need the writers to make some sad endings. That's the ones we truly cherish and that is the ones that makes Scrubs a drama-comedy - not just a comedy show.

I am still mad about them canceling Eastwick and yes this is what they do when they want to get rid of a show no more "reality "crap I won't watch it

Not only should Scrubs not have come back this season, but it should have been canceled AT LEAST two seasons before that. The shows writing has been pretty abysmal for the last 3 or 4 years, relying more and more on heavy handed and badly done physical humor. As it is, they crafted a perfectly good series finale last year and should have left well enough alone.

It is a show that has run its course -- an original idea that carried on too long. It is still on in reruns.

Of course they should keep it; as it is getting back to it's roots of what made the show a hit. with a little honest PR from ABC it would do well!

This season Scrubs has recaptured a lot of the quirkiness that always made it so funny. I hope ABC will let the reboot go for another season to see where it goes. Another show that deserves another season is Better Off Ted. It's sad that ABC is abandoning their scripted programming for their "reality" shows. To borrow a phrase, reality bites!

I dont know enough about the show to either say yes or no about it being taken off the air. One thing I do agree with is ABC (and the other networks) cancell good shows while letting those "reality" shows hang on long after their 15 minutes of fame is over
