Big Name Stars Coming to 'In Plain Sight'
Last night during 'Burn Notice,' there were promos for 'In Plain Sight' and it got my heart pumped just to hear Mary McCormack's voice again. Hooray, Mary's back. And so is 'In Plain Sight,' one of the most improved series on cable in its sophomore run last season. The new season kicks off on March 31 on USA Network, and 'In Plain Sight's' lined up some big stars as guests. The top of the list is Allison Janney. They're not saying if it's more than a single episode -- here's hoping -- but Allison will be a playing a "newly appointed U.S. Marshal who clashes with Mary." If you remember Janney and McCormack in the last couple of seasons of 'The West Wing,' this should be a great reunion.
Last season, another 'West Wing' alum, Richard Schiff, provided one of the best turns on 'In Plain Sight.' Another former 'Wing' cast member, Joshua Malina, did a good job as a semi-regular. Since any connection to the former Emmy-winning NBC series has been excellent for the show, I anticipate good stuff with Janney and McCormack again.
That's not all when it comes to star power. Rita Moreno has been cast as Raph's aunt and she'll be stirring things up as Mary and Raph plan their wedding. Can you see the culture clash of Jinx's idea of Mary's wedding meets Raph's tia's traditions? Of course, with Lesley Ann Warren as Jinx -- with her musical talent revealed on screen last season -- maybe the two ladies will cook up a song for the wedding rehearsal?
Rita did win an Oscar for 'West Side Story.' Imagine those two singing, 'A Boy Like That'! That'd be fun, and since the show is bringing Grammy-winner Liz Phair to be the show's music composer, perhaps there's something cooking in that direction.
Wait, we're not done yet. More stars are coming to 'Sight.' Two eps for Steven Weber as an FBI agent and Tess Harper as a federal prosecutor.
