Simon Cowell Disses Howard Stern as 'Idol' Candidate

Howard SternI don't believe that Howard Stern has been asked to replace Simon Cowell when Cowell leaves 'American Idol,' nor do I think that Stern really wants the job, even if he keeps talking about it on his SIRIUS show. 'Idol' fans would hate him being on it (can't imagine that 'Idol' fans and Stern fans overlap too much), and Stern's fans will hate it too and accuse him of selling out and being lame. According to The Live Feed, Cowell doesn't think Stern has been asked either, but if he has, he doesn't think he's a good choice.

Cowell says that the show needs someone with music industry experience, someone who can "spot a star."

Now I'll say what everyone is going to say about Cowell's comments: what about Ellen and her lack of music industry experience? It seems that Cowell is talking about the only type of person who could replace him, not who could replace any of the other judges.

Did you ever watch his old TV show? Lots of bleeping.

Howard Stern isn't called the Shock Jock without good reason. That's all he would give AI because that's what he loves to do. Plus he's have to be bleeped out for every other word he says. AI's family audience would disappear quickly.

He's a grown adult who knows how to control his language. He never was 'bleeped' when he spoke 25 hours a week on terrestrial radio nor did he ever even utter a word that would need to be 'bleeped' on national television.

That's what kills me about this debate/issue is that what the hell does Ellen bring to the table to be on this show??????? She has a daytime talk show? Big friggin' deal!! That doesn't relate to music!

Why are they harping on Stern's supposedly lack of musical background but don't address Ellen's?

Replacing Simon is a bigger challenge then replacing Paula, who only gave positive comments.

I know Simon has a rep for being the bad guy on the show, and so someone mean should replace him.

he's also the person who speaks the truth. He gives ligit criticism that if the contestants listen to him will make them better performers.

As far as I'm aware that is something Stern can't/won't offer.

Don't equate being mean with telling the truth.
