lilly_scott_american_idolDo you remember in the prehistoric days of no Internet and nothing digital? Back then, if you liked the songs you heard on MTV or -- gad! 'The Monkees' -- you would have to wait months and months for the single or album to show up in the record store. Yes, those were the days of records, even if they were tapes or 8-tracks.

Anyway, in today's wonderful world of instant gratification and super-technology, waiting is a thing of the past. Last night's performances from 'American Idol's' Top Twelve ladies will be on Apple iTunes today! Last night if you were watching and loved Lilly Scott's version of The Beatles 'Fixin' A Hole,' you could've pre-ordered it and it would be downloaded to your computer today.

The relationship between 'American Idol' and the Apple's iTunes store is nothing new. It's a great convenience for fans and a perfect way to get involved with the competition. For season nine, there are going to be some new bells and whistles that'll make it even better, beyond the instant pre-ordering and getting the music very, very quickly. Favorite music performances will be on sale for $1.29 the day after the show airs, and starting March 18, videos of the Top 12 finalist performances will be on sale for just $1.49.

When the Top Twelve get into the theme shows -- the music of Yma Sumac is on tap on I hear -- the iTunes store will get the original songs set up in the 'American Idol' section of the store and you'll be able to hear the original versions in preparation of hearing how the Top Twelve will do the songs. You see, not everyone sings Andrew Lloyd Webber songs the same, especially the 'Idol' singers!

For 'Idol' fans, these new changes are all good, good and better. It's a feast of 'Idol' madness. Now if only the guys do better than the girls did last night.

Vanessa Williams would be a great replacement for Simon. Think about it, she has it all, beauty, funny, talent and experience. Come on Fox..tag Vanessa.
