E! Online is reporting
that actor/singer/award show host Neil Patrick Harris is not only going to guest star on 'Glee,' but that the good folks over at the Fox freshman hit are presently working on a script for the 'How I Met Your Mother' star's episode, set to air in late spring.

While there's no official word yet, E! Online's Watch With Kristin all but confirms the casting, quoting a source that claims Harris' character will be "really funny and really mean," and someone along the lines of Dr. Horrible, the nefarious mad scientist Harris played on Joss Whedon's Emmy-winning Web musical, 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.' Harris' spot is a choice nab for the Golden Globe-winning 'Glee,' following in the footsteps of the show's other memorable guest stars, including Kristin Chenowith, Victor Garber and Eve; and 'Glee' star Lea Michele's 'Spring Awakening' costar Jonathan Groff is set to do an arc after the series returns to Fox on April 13.

Of course, we all know at this point that Whedon, who also created cult hits 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Dollhouse,' will be directing an upcoming 'Glee' episode. Could this mean a 'Dr. Horrible' reunion?

Are you excited about Harris' 'Glee' guest spot? What kind of character are you hoping for him to play?
