Will Arnett, Spike Jonze and David Cross Team for UK Comedy

David Cross in Channel 4's The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd MargaretDavid Cross and Will Arnett will soon be back together on TV, according to the USA Today's Pop Candy site. The show is called 'The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret.' Cross co-wrote the project with an English comic named Shaun Pye, and he'll star in the title role as a temp who winds up running and energy drink company.

Pop Candy also says the project will co-star director Spike Jonze, which seemed like a misprint, but Slashfilm seems to confirm that. The series will get six episodes, a standard series run for U.K. television, and will air on Channel 4. No word yet on any plans to air the series in the States, but the obvious eventual outlets would be HBO or Showtime, and/or a DVD release.

The six-episode format works particularly well for comedy. It's well-suited for a single story arc that holds a series together like a film, without having to pad things down with extraneous plot elements or side stories (See the U.K. version of 'The Office,' 'Extras,' or 'Black Books' for examples). Cross will also have a bit more freedom in terms of language and subject matter than he would on most non-cable American networks. Which is a good thing, judging by this clip on Channel 4's YouTube site (no embed available, and NSFW).

Brilliant news. The pilot was great.

I don't know what Bret and gwangi were watching but the climax of the pilot had to be one of the best scenes of controlled chaos I've ever seen. David Cross has a one man meltdown from massive energy drink overdose, egged on by his hooligan office assistant.

This is only the 2nd part of the scene, too bad youtube has pulled the full episode.

The first 3 minutes of the pilot (Will Arnett) was hilarious and boy did it tank after that. It resorted to something common showing up in Britcoms (Pulling, Lead Balloon) I find quite boring. If the climax of your pilot is peeing your pants, I'll pass. I love the people involved and hope they get back to the first three minutes which really worked.

Didn't you cover this ages ago when it was first announced?

The pilot has been knocking around for a fair few months.

As much as I love all of them, I caught the pilot and it was BAD!
