Jane After Dark: 'Supernatural' - What Does Dean Know?
Hey, 'Supernatural' fans. Well, I'm part-way into season two, and I have to say, I was utterly depressed after watching the first episode, 'In My Time of Dying.' But of course, I forged ahead anyway. It seems there's always a way to bring people back after they die on this show. Things aren't set in stone at all. Which is exactly why it's hard to think that Sam could go to the dark side, or that he's harboring some deep, dark demonic thing. According to Gordon, that dark side is going to come out and be a really bad guy. Apparently, John Winchester felt that way, too, before he died. That's why he told Dean that if he couldn't save Sam, he'd have to kill him.
It just seems like there's something more there. Obviously, there must be a way to save Sam; otherwise, John probably wouldn't have said it. Or, there's always the possibility that we're not getting the full story from Dean. Maybe John said something else when he leaned down and whispered in Dean's ear right before he died.
Ok, so I just finished 'Hunted.' Why didn't Sam just shoot Gordon when he had the chance? Because Sam's not a killer, that's why. And if he starts killing, maybe he thinks he'll go to the dark side. Still, even though the cops hauled Gordon's ass off to jail, that doesn't mean he won't be back to kill Sam at some point.
So it seems there's a major demon war coming at some point, and the yellow-eyed being is gathering people to do his dirty work -- including Sam. Or not.
I have to reiterate that each episode is like a mini horror movie. I watched 'Croatoan' the same night 'The Crazies' came out in theaters. I guess people going insane by various means -- demon viruses, mysterious toxins, etc. -- is nothing new.
Other points of interest so far in season two:
- Where is Ava? Is she a bad seed? The victim of demonic possession? I really liked her.
- Clowns are evil. But then, we all knew that.
- Imaginary friends can be evil, too.
- Dean is wanted by the cops. You've gotta think that's going to catch up to them at some point. Actually, all their illegal activities are bound to catch up with them sooner or later. How long can you keep doing credit card scams?
- Jo is one b.a. girl for venturing into the dungeon in 'No Exit.' I keep thinking she's John's daughter and somehow, Dean knows this and that's why he hasn't pursued her romantically.
- If the plants around your place suddenly start dying, be wary.
- Those old-time blues singers knew what they were talking about.
- We should all have code words, so we can warn our loved ones on the phone if someone is holding a gun to our head.
- That 'Blue Oyster Cult' song '(Don't Fear) the Reaper'? We should totally ignore that. By all means, fear the reaper.
Looking forward to your thoughts on season two.
