'Modern Family' Going Hawaiian
Gidget did it. Elvis had a special there. 'Lost' calls it home. CBS is even bringing it back with a modern take on 'Hawaii Five-O'! Well, the Dunphys, Jay and Gloria, Cam and Mitchell are the latest. That's right, 'Modern Family' is going to Hawaii. It's not a permanent relocation. At the Paley Festival on Friday night in Los Angeles, 'Modern Family' executive producer Steve Levitan revealed that that show is being filmed next week. He explained why the family is all going native, saying, "Jay thinks that he and Gloria are going by themselves for this romantic getaway, and she surprises him by inviting the entire family."
With the exception of a beautiful place to film, it's hard to sell the idea that 'Modern Family' is going to be any funnier in Maui than Malibu, but the stars of the show are thrilled with the trip. KorbiTV suggested that since Julie Bowen was back in 'Lost' territory, perhaps she could film some scenes with Matthew Fox on that set. Fanciful thought, but if the 'Lost' writers haven't figured her into the equation already, it's not likely.
An interesting aspect that can be explored by 'Modern Family' goes Hawaiian could be the whole notion that as adults, have Cam and Claire ever vacationed with Dad? That could be fodder for funny stuff. ... I can't wait to see Manny on a surf board, how about you?
