The Academy Awards - Sunday March 7, 8 pm, CTV/ABC
Most years, there are five best picture nominees and I've usually seen one or none of them. This is due in part to the fact that the noms are usually released in theatres about five minutes before the ceremony, and the fact that I'm a lazy bum who never goes to theatres. But this year there are ten nominees in this category. Guess what? I've seen one of them. Go 'Inglourious Basterds'! As far as I know, you are totally the best picture!

Also This Week:
Parenthood - Tuesday March 2, 10 pm, Citytv/NBC
A "re-imagining" of the film by the same title, this mid-season drama features the Braverman family, but instead of Steve Martin, Mary Steenburgen, Rick Moranis and Tom Hulce, we get Peter Krause, Lauren Graham, Erika Christensen and Craig T. Nelson. Sounds good so far! My only reservation is the previews I've been seeing. 'Parenthood' was a comedy, but this re-boot looks a little gloomy.
The Office - Thursday March 4, 9 pm, Global/NBC
Pam finally pops in on a one-hour special episode tonight. Will she give birth to a shark and will the entire cast then leap over it?
The Marriage Ref - Thursday March 4, 10 pm, Citytv/NBC
NBC is hoping Jerry Seinfeld can work some magic for them with this new show that takes a 'Hollywood Squares' approach to marriage counselling. Tom Papa plays the Ref while celebs help the couples settle a dispute. The first episode features two women who evoke completely opposite reactions in me: Tina Fey and Eva Longoria. Guess which one I like.
Barbara Walters Oscar Specials, Sunday March 7, 7 pm, Global/ABC
Babs has announced her imminent retirement from this field, so this is your last chance to watch a lot of fawning nonsense just before a whole gala party of fawning nonsense. This year Mo'Nique and Sandra Bullock are interviewed, while past Oscar winners get a bit of face time too.
