In the late '90s, Vieira gained national notoriety when she moved on from a career in TV journalism to co-host the daytime talk show 'The View,' alongside Barbara Walters, Joy Behar and Star Jones. In 2002, she began hosting a daytime version of the hit game show 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.'

Citing another internal NBC source, the New York Times is also reporting that Vieira's co-anchor, Matt Lauer, has also extended his contract past 2011, when it was set to end.
