'Celebrity Apprentice 2': Who Will Win?

by Chris Jordan, posted Mar 11th 2010 4:00PM
Fired up for a new season of 'The Celebrity Apprentice'? Fourteen celebs -- of varying levels of celebrity-dom -- are working for a bonus of $250,000 to be donated to a charity of their choice. And maybe a chance to spark up a little interest in their careers, too.

Business mogul Donald Trump will do the firing once again, aided by son Donald Trump Jr., daughter Ivanka Trump and long-time adviser George H. Ross on this third season of 'Celebrity Apprentice.' The teams, incidentally, are divided by sex.

The action starts 9 PM ET Sunday on NBC. Before then, we've studied the field and calibrated who the likely winner will be.

See for yourself after the jump. Fired up for a new season of 'The Celebrity Apprentice'? Fourteen celebs -- of varying levels of celebrity-dom -- are set to vie for a bonus of $250,000 to be donated to a charity of their choice.

See for yourself below.

Holly Robinson Peete
Actress
Odds: 3-1
Watch out for Robinson Peete. The former star of TV's '21 Jump Street' and 'Hangin' with Mr. Cooper' called former contestants to ask what to expect on 'Celebrity Apprentice,' according to the Philadelphia Daily News. She's motivated for two reasons -- her charity of choice fights autism, which afflicts her 12-year old son with former football player Rodney Peete, and a strong showing here will revive her career.

Darryl Strawberry
Baseball star
Odds: 4-1
Strawberry owned New York City in the '80s as a member of the New York Mets. However, he had a famous fall from stardom that included arrests for cocaine possession, soliciting for prostitution and also a cancer battle. The former Mets star has since reformed his image and health and is on the comeback trail now. Working in his favor is his very magnetic personality and very familiar face on the streets of New York.
Curtis Stone
Chef
Odds: 6-1
The Australian chef might have the right ingredients to win. He's developed a line of his own kitchen utensils and has authored several cookbooks. But, we're not sure how well he'll work with the other celebs. You know the saying about too many chefs in the kitchen! Speaking of celebrity-dom, Stone is not very well known in the States despite his work on TLC's
'Take Home Chef' and his inclusion as one of People's sexiest men alive in 2006. His relative obscurity will not help him here.

Maria Kanellis
Pro wrestler
Odds: 8-1
Outside of hardcore wrestling fans and some readers of Playboy, Kanellis isn't a household name. Kanellis is a a female wrestler who recently parted ways with World Wrestling Entertainment. We wouldn't want to mess with her -- in the wrestling ring, that is - the boardroom is another story.

Sharon Osbourne
Music management
Odds: 12-1
Sure, Osbourne has plenty of business acumen. Look at her management of hubby Ozzy Osbourne. Plus, she's a real pro at reality TV. But she doesn't seem to work well with people whose last name is not Osbourne. Her feud with the metal band Iron Maiden is legendary, and there are other troubling incidents in her past. We predict she'll get on the wrong side of a few people here.

Sinbad
Comedian
Odds: 12-1
Sinbad knows reality TV competition. He used to be on 'Star Search' back in the day. Yet, comedians are hard to read on on 'Celebrity Apprentice.' They're either full of game (see Joan Rivers) or just going through the motions and hoping that by appearing on the show they'll get a bump in their careers (see Andrew Dice Clay). We're thinking Sinbad falls into the Clay category, but he could surprise us.

Carol Leifer
Comedian
Odds: 12-1
A club comedian whose greatest claim to fame is writing for 'The Larry Sanders Show,' 'Saturday Night Live' and 'Seinfeld.' Leifer's also a Jewish lesbian, not that there's anything wrong with that. We feel Leifer has a chance. She has been a success in the male-dominated world of comedy and she's managed to get onto this show. That's a sign some thing is going right for her.

'The Celebrity Apprentice': Men vs. women

Michael Johnson
Sprinter
Odds: 15-1
What do we know about Michael Johnson? Well, he runs fast. Very fast. In fact, he was considered the fastest man alive in the '90s, and he won a few Olympic gold medals, too. But we don't think his speed will translate to 'Celebrity Apprentice' success unless he's called to run down potential customers on the street.

Summer Sanders
Swimmer
Odds: 15-1
The Olympic swimmer has been pretty much off the pop culture radar since she ditched the '90s hair and clothing of Nickelodeon's 'Figure It Out.' Besides the game show, she has done a ton of hosting for sports and lifestyle shows since her Olympic successes. She has to be articulate to a degree, right?

Selita Ebanks
Supermodel
Odds: 20-1
A supermodel from the Cayman Islands who was raised on Staten Island, Ebanks is best known for her work for Victoria's Secret and Sports Illustrated. Beyond that, we suspect she's not just another pretty face.

Bret Michaels
Rock star
Odds: 20-1
Bret Michaels is a reality TV institution unto himself, famous for starring in the career reviving 'Rock of Love with Bret Michaels' on VH1. A diabetic, he'll be playing for American Diabetes Association, so he's going to be into it. Yet we question the former Poison frontman's dedication in the long run.

Bill Goldberg
Wrestler
Odds: 25-1
Goldberg hasn't shown career smarts since leaving pro wrestling in 2004, and we don't expect him to do well here. He was popular as a wrestler, but that was in 2004. Goldberg will need to control his instinct to bodyslam people, it doesn't work here.

Cyndi Lauper
Singer
Odds: 25-1
Lauper has had the smarts to keep her singing career very active despite not having a hit since the late 1980s. However, we think she'll be 'Cyndi Lauper' the character here, the kooky New Yawker that everyone loves, rather than get down and dirty and play the game.

Rod Blagojevich
Politician
Odds: 50-1
We feel Blagojevich might be a little too distracted to do well here. After all, the former governor of Illinois faces 16 felony changes from the feds, including racketeering, conspiracy, wire fraud and making false statements to investigators. We feel, frankly, that he's little unhinged at this point in his life and shouldn't be on the show.
