Miami Beach Will Be 'Jersey Shore's' New Home

by Brad Trechak, posted Mar 11th 2010 9:50AM

Jersey ShoreThis is a reason to rejoice. No, it is not the fact that 'Jersey Shore' is getting a second season. Indeed it is questionable whether the show even having a first season is a reason to rejoice. Rather, I am referring to the fact that the second season of 'Jersey Shore' will take place in Miami Beach instead of my home state of New Jersey. On behalf of the state, good riddance.

Of course, this brings about the question of the name of the program. It's not really the Jersey Shore anymore, is it? Will the show now have a subtitle: 'Jersey Shore: Guidos in Miami?' Perhaps future seasons (and sadly there will likely be future seasons) will have the crew on a different beach in a different state every year. That is, until they turn 30 and the Sandmen have to hunt them down and kill them. If MTV makes a show of that concept, I would tune in.

Dear God I hope they remove the words Jersey Shore completely. As someone who is a full year resident I'm sick of these leather bags pumped with steroids who are here for 3 months out of the year representing us. We treat them as punch lines too, stop lumping us with them!

To many people, South Florida is just New York (or New Jersey) South. So these, errr, individuals should fit right in.

Thank you, thank you, I have been defending my beloved New Jersey since the day this abysmal show started, they DO NOT represent the wonderful shore towns that are the REAL Jersey Shore!
Miami Beach, enjoy the guidos and guidettes! I think they will be out of their element, and go down in flames!

Exactly how can they simultaneously (1) not represent the shore and (2) be in "their element" there? Can't be both.

For 25 years I owned a summer home one town north of Seaside. Doesn't matter whether the cast members were born or get their mail in NJ, NY or on Mars--they're certainly characteristic of a significant and highly visible demographic at the Shore. Doesn't mean everyone in NJ is like them, but to deny they're representative of a big slice of Shore and boardwalk life is just silly. Dropping them into Miami probably works only if they're positioned as fish out of water. They'll be back to NJ soon enough.

I think they should stay at the Jersey Shore and rotate the cast.
