While Epperly and Hall had given uneven performances over the past few weeks, Lambert had been improving his stage presence and Scott had been consistently rewarded with praise for her original style.

Epperly left on a high note saying, "This is just a push, actually, for me to go and do more stuff." Hall said, "I came here to prove that I'm not just a dancer. I can also sing, and I think that I've done that."

Lambert barely held back tears during his parting words. "There's a lot of things that America hasn't seen me do yet, and a lot of things that I know I'm capable of," he said. "So, I wish I could've just broken out of my shell."

The biggest surprise of the evening came when Scott was sent home. She honestly thought her performances earned her a spot in the top 12. "It's surprising. A lot of incredible talent is going home tonight. I don't know what America wants to hear," she said.
