Jon Voight Takes Lead in Fox's Texas Drama Pilot

He was a big old baddie as a guest star on '24' season 7, and now, Jon Voight is taking time away from his busy making-up-with-daughter-Angelina Jolie schedule to return to primetime.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-winning actor has joined the cast of Fox's 'Midland,' about a con man named Bob (Jimmy Wolk) who is trying to juggle dual lives -- and girlfriends -- in two Texas cities.

In his first full-time TV gig, Voight will play the father of one Bob's girlfriends. According to the report, his character is being described as an intimidating business tycoon, someone who is "equally at home in boots or a three-piece suit," and probably someone who won't be pleased to find out that his daughter is being duped. We're picturing a J.R. Meanwhile, 'An Officer and a Gentleman's' David Keith will play Bob's dad, also a con man, while 'Friday Night Lights' alum Adrianne Palicki and 'Crash's' Eloise Mumford will play Bob's girlfriends.

Voight, who has reportedly reunited with his Oscar-winning daughter after years of estrangement, is also scheduled to reprise his role as Nicolas Cage's father in 'National Treasure 3,' a sequel to the popular action-adventure movies 'National Treasure' and 'National Treasure: Book of Secrets.' 'National Treasure 3' hits theaters in 2011.
