'Desperate Housewives' - 'Chromolume #7' Recap

(S06E17) "I know that you have a secret." - Gaby to Angie
'Desperate Housewives' titles are always found in lyrics of songs written by Stephen Sondheim. This week's unusual title is no different. 'Chromolume #7' is a song in the musical 'Sunday in the Park with George.' More precisely, the Chromolume #7 is a color and light machine featured in an act of the musical.
The title fits with Mary Alice's commentary at the end of the episode saying that it's not always easy to see people's true colors and that people hide their true nature from us every day. This week, we got confirmation on Angie's secret, we learned who Sam really is, we discovered how Gaby acted when she was a high profile model, and we met Preston's girlfriend and mustache!
Preston, the mustache and Irina
What's more fake: Preston's mustache or Irina's love for Preston? One thing is certain, both are fishy! I'm with Lynette in thinking that Irina is in for the money and not the love. If it's not for the money, Irina might pretend to be in love with Preston so she will be able to stay in the country once they get married and do the paper work for her to become a U.S. citizen.
Like the storyline or not, it did provide one of the best lines of the episode: "That's why I keep having kids, Jimmy. To replace the ones that hate me."
Sam ... Van de Kamp
In my last review, I wrote that I thought Sam was related to Bree and wondered if maybe he was a kid Bree had at a younger age and that she had to give up for adoption. A few of you commented on the fact that Sam could be Bree's son or even one of Karl's illegitimate children -- Karl slept around, so he could have a few kids he didn't know about -- while others even pointed at George the pharmacist. No one commented on the fact that Sam could be Rex's son. I must admit that I didn't even think of that option, since we haven't heard about Rex in so long in one form or another.
It looks like Bree will be willing to keep Sam in the business and maybe even act as a mother to him. One thing is certain. This news will not sit well with Andrew, even if it better explains Sam's motive. Andrew not only has to share the vice-presidency, but he'll also have to share his mother and dead father. Plus, it means that Andrew is not the eldest anymore ... I doubt Andrew will welcome Sam as a family member and work hand in hand with him.
Angie
We finally got some confirmation on our theories about the Bolens:
- When she was 18, Angie wanted to save the planet and organized protests.
- Eventually, she got involved with a really bad guy -- Patrick Logan -- who convinced her they needed to be more aggressive.
- Someone got killed in the process.
- Nick helped Angie walk away from Patrick.
- Patrick is Danny's father.
It must be a relief to Angie to finally have someone to confide in. She'll definitely need friends in the coming weeks, as it looks like Patrick will be travellng to Fairview now that one of Rose's neighbors called him to give the location in exchange for a thousand dollars. May Sweeps, here comes Patrick, and he'll be up to no good!
