TV Casting: Mary Steenburgen to Star in 'Southern Discomfort'

Oscar-winning actress Mary Steenburgen has landed a lead role in the ABC comedy 'Southern Discomfort.' Steenburgen will play the matriarch of the series, about a father whose adult children suddenly move back in with him. Steenburgen was last seen on the big screen in 'The Proposal' and 'Did You Hear About the Morgans?', and won 1980's Best Supporting Actress Oscar for 'Melvin and Howard.' [Hollywood Reporter]

Evan Rachel WoodEvan Rachel Wood, Guy Pearce and Melissa Leo will join Oscar winner Kate Winslet in HBO's 'Mildred Pierce.' They'll play Winslet's daughter, lover and friend, respectively, in the five-hour miniseries, about a mother (Winslet) who takes up a job as a waitress to provide for her disapproving daughter during the Great Depression. Joan Crawford starred in the 1945 big-screen version, for which she received a Best Actress Oscar. [Hollywood Reporter]

Justin BieberSixteen-year-old superstar Justin Bieber will perform during the April 10 episode of 'Saturday Night Live,' hosted by 'SNL' alum and current '30 Rock' star Tina Fey. Other upcoming 'SNL' guests include Sigourney Weaver (Mar. 20) and Betty White (May 8). [MTV]

James CallisYet another 'Battlestar Galactica' alum is returning to the small screen. This time, it's James Callis, who will appear in the upcoming fourth season of Syfy's 'Eureka.' He'll play Dr. Grant in the series, "a former resident of the town whose return is cause for alarm." [Hollywood Reporter]

Paul SchneiderPaul Schneider is reportedly leaving the hit NBC comedy 'Parks and Recreation.' Schneider, who plays Mark Brendanawicz on the series, is leaving to focus on his film career, but may recur next season. Meanwhile, 'Parks' will welcome a handful of new faces in upcoming episodes, including characters played by Adam Scott and Rob Lowe ('Brothers & Sisters'). [Variety]

'SNL' veterans Chris Parnell and Horatio Sanz will join Jon Heder ('Napoleon Dynamite') in a new sitcom set to air on Comedy Central. Parnell and Sanz will play Heder's friends in the series, set around a man (Heder) who is determined to chase his dreams, despite numerous setbacks, including moving back home with his parents. The untitled series is set to air in the fall under a 10-episode order. [Variety]
