Three thoughts...
1. The casting is unfortunate as part of The Wire's power came from the fact big name actors weren't involved. Damn i wish Zahn and Goodman weren't in it. Too bad.
2. We'll watch it on DVD just like we did The Wire. Best show ever (until Season 5).
3. The actual topic (New Orleans, Katrina) isn't really relevant to me; after seeing The Wire I'll watch for the acting/writing. The setting is the backdrop for the story. The connections to the real locations and event... don't care. It's make believe.
I take it you've had a perfect life with absolutely no set-backs you've ever had to rebound from thus making this irrelevant to you?
This isn't about a hurricane, it's about the people who are picking up the pieces of their shattered lives.
I lived through it and even though this may be a wonderful series, the last thing I want to do is relive it or be reminded. It's a pain I'd rather put behind me, but I understand the fascination it must hold for those that saw it from afar. I wish it the best, but I won't be watching.
