Tom Selleck to Star in New Show For CBS (But it's Not Jesse Stone)

Tom SelleckWhen I first saw the headline that Tom Selleck was going to star in a new drama for CBS, my mind instantly went to 'Jesse Stone,' the fine series of TV movies based on the books by Robert B. Parker. I think it would make for a great TV series, but alas, this is a completely different show.

Selleck is in talks to play the lead in a new drama for the network that would center on a family of cops in New York. Selleck would play the police chief and other members of his family would include Donnie Wahlberg (playing his son) and Len Cariou (playing his father). The show used to be called 'Reagan's Law' but now they're changing the name.

I'd rather see some Jesse Stone movies (or how about a 'Magnum, P.I.' reunion?), but if it keeps Selleck at CBS that means they'll be more Jesse Stone movies, so that's a good thing.

I love Tom in all his roles. He was great as Quigly, in Quigly down Under. Can't wait to see him May 9th as Jesse Stone. They have been great little movies. I also liked him in his role as the new owner in the TV show, Las Vegas. It's too bad the show was canceled. I would have loved to see more of him as the horse riding rancher who buys the Montecito. I love him as a cowboy and as a PI and as a cop. He is just so easy on the eyes.

he has a new Jesse Stone movie out May 9th. I read somewhere where Robert Parker gave Selleck the same deal that Louis Lamour gave him-he has carte blanche with their characters/books. Lamour told him that even though he had written his books way before meeting Selleck that once he did he felt every one of his main characters were meant for Selleck.Parker said he wasnt sure about Selleck until he saw the first movie & then he said that no one could play Jesse Stone. I'm just glad to have him back on tv. I was kinda hoping they would of offered him the part of Rocky in Rockford Files as a tribute to James Garner.
