He's put his stamp on Hawaii and Sin City, and now, 'Magnum, P.I.' and 'Las Vegas' star Tom Selleck is headed to the Big Apple.

Selleck is reportedly close to signing on as the lead in CBS' as-yet-untitled fall cop drama pilot, in which he would play Michael, the "handsome" (duh) and well-decorated chief of police for the NYPD.

The family drama will also star Donnie Wahlberg as Brian, Michael's detective son, and Len Cariou ('Damages') as Patrick, Michael's dad and the former police chief who is now involved in the local political scene. He's put his stamp on Hawaii and Sin City, and now, 'Magnum, P.I.' and 'Las Vegas' star Tom Selleck is headed to the Big Apple.

The series, formerly known as 'Reagan's Law,' was created by 'Sopranos' producers/writers Mitchell Burgess and Robin Green, who were also writers on 'Party of Five' and 'Northern Exposure.'

For the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning Selleck, the new series will mark his first full-time TV gig since he joined NBC's 'Las Vegas' for its 2007-08 final season. Selleck had a recurring role as Candice Bergen's ex-husband on 'Boston Legal,' and, of course, already spent a bit of time in NYC when he played Monica's boyfriend on 'Friends.'

He's also the titular star of CBS' 'Jesse Stone' movies, based on the Robert B. Parker novels, in which Selleck plays a small-town Massachusetts police chief. On May 9, he'll star in his sixth Stone flick, 'Jesse Stone: No Remorse.'

Meanwhile, the 65-year-old Selleck has a couple of major big-screen projects on the way, too. In June, he co-stars with Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher in the action-comedy 'Killers,' and he, Ted Danson and Steve Guttenberg are scheduled to reunite for 'Three Men and a Bride,' the 2010 sequel to 'Three Men and a Baby,' that will see Mary, the 'Baby' from the original movie, become the 'Bride' in the new film.
