Aziz Ansari Will Host 2010 'MTV Movie Awards'

Aziz AnsariOne of TV's rising stars is about to get a little bit higher (not that way, Cheech).

'Parks & Recreation' star and comedian Aziz Ansari will host the next 'MTV Movie Awards' broadcast, which will air live on June 6 from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif.

Some say it's the right choice at the right time since his comedy star is hotter than ever thanks to his primetime appearances and the buzz he has earned from his latest comedy special. I like to think it's MTV's way of apologizing for giving 'Human Giant' the run-around.

Congrats to Aziz. I'm a big fan of his stuff all the way back even before Human Giant when he did that shittiest mix tape video.

As for MTV's treatment of Human Giant, I disagree with your statement... all three of them have openly said MTV was very cool about the show. The network gave them very few notes, and a ton of freedom, hell they got the NETWORK for 24 Hours, remember? MTV was even ready to give them a 3rd season but Aziz was cast in Parks and Rec and Rob and Paul were getting other projects so it was entirely their decision to leave.

MTV knows that Aziz has the talent... he's got some name recognition with Parks and Rec... plus Funny People, and other movie roles and to top it off his stand up special is doing insane on Amazon, and he's in high demand at colleges, etc. and his summer tour is already selling well. Plus he just signed a deal with Judd Apatow for 3 movie block... he's ready for the big leagues and I think this hosting is perfect way to bring him out to the big show... in case you were kinda familiar with Aziz Ansari, you'll definitely know his name after this!
