According to the Hollywood Reporter, the untitled hour-long drama will revolve around a doctor (Kline) who must start over after serving a 15-year prison sentence for murdering his mistress.

The show was written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Auburn ('Proof'), and will be executive produced by Kline, Gavin Polone and Kline's manager, Judy Hofflund.

"It is hard to believe that I'm working with David Auburn and Kevin Kline on a project. I feel like I died and have been reincarnated as [uber-producer] Scott Rudin," joked Polone to the Reporter.

Kline will be in good company at HBO. The cable network has landed several big-named fish in recent months, including Dustin Hoffman, who will star in the horse-racing drama 'Luck' from Michael Mann ('The Insider') and David Milch ('Deadwood'). Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow ('The Hurt Locker') will also be joining HBO to direct the pilot 'Miraculous Year.'

Considering his enormous talent and the team behind the show, maybe Kline and his wife, Phoebe Cates, should make some room on the awards shelf for an Emmy. Just sayin' ...
