Niecy Nash -- the star of 'Reno 911!' -- has had a tragic and often painful life.

On Wednesday's edition of 'The Insider' (weekdays, syndicated), Nash and her mother, Margaret, discussed an incident that almost killed them. They revealed that Margaret's former boyfriend shot Margaret in the back -- while going after Niecy's brother -- with a sawed-off shotgun. Then he set the house on fire ... with Niecy still inside, hiding under a bed.
