Adam Shankman is busy judging auditions for season 7 of 'So You Think You Can Dance,' but that doesn't mean he's up on the latest changes to the show. At the Hollywood premiere of 'The Last Song' last night, he was surprised to hear the news producer Nigel Lythgoe tweeted about yesterday. "He's not filling me in!" he said. After learning two of the major new changes -- partners change every week and only one person will be eliminated each week -- he laughed, "Oh great, I love this, that I'm finding out from you!"
Shankman gave his thoughts on the new rules and his own ideas for the show, which, unfortunately, "keep getting shut down," the best city so far in the audition process and why this season will be even more competitive.

So you are going to be back for the next season of 'So You Think You Can Dance'?
It would appear so now, yes. We've been out on the road and ... I'm not really allowed to talk because we're doing a lot of changes on the show.
Nigel just tweeted about some major changes today.
By the way, he's not filling me in on them!
So you don't know what they are?
No.
The first change: The partners will be broken up every week. What do you think about that?
I think that's great. I think that's really challenging, because one person can't bring another person down.
Also, they'll only be eliminating one person per week.
Oh great, I love this -- that I'm finding out from you! That is great, so you're voting on a person, not a couple then.
Does this mean we'll have a longer season? Or fewer contestants?
I think that would be the reality, fewer contestants.
And you have no idea what the other changes might be?
No. I'm excited to see what he has cooked up because he seems extremely excited about it.
And those are all Nigel's call?
That is the one place on this earth where I can go and I'm just an employee. It's a haven.
What would you like to see? What have you thrown in the pot as an idea?
I keep suggesting a variety of dance styles that I want to see, but I keep getting shut down. I want to see apache, but nobody knows what apache is. It's a form of tango, but it's much rougher. It was born on the docks of France.
What are you seeing so far in the auditions?
Some wonderful, wonderful stuff. Especially if we're going to have fewer contestants. It's going to be really competitive.
Any standouts so far?
New York was amazing. I remember thinking there was a lot of great stuff. We're doing L.A. this weekend.
So it's you, Nigel and Mary Murphy again?
I think. I don't know. Like I said, I think I am.
