Are You Ready For Another Gordon Ramsay Cooking Competition Show?

by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 26th 2010 2:04PM
Gordon RamsayDo we really need another food competition show on television? And do we need another show that stars chef Gordon Ramsay? Neither of those questions matter because we're getting one anyway.

'Masterchef' premieres on FOX July 29. Ramsay will be the head judge on this show, along with restaurateur/wine expert Joe Bastianich and chef Graham Elliot Bowles, who will also coach the contestants. This show will feature amateur chefs who have to go through a series of challenges, with one of them becoming the winner of the competition. I know, that description could be cut and pasted into a post about seven other food competition shows on the air right now, but if something isn't broken...etc, etc.

The press release uses phrases like "follow their dream" and "unique platform" and "passion and excitement," but I don't see anything about what the exact prize will be, whether it's cash or a position at a restaurant or a set of cookware. Unless the prize is knowing that three food and wine experts declare you the winner.

Awesome! If it follows the Beeb's format it should be a great show, as Ramsey will only be judging the cooks, not actually cooking. You'll find plenty of clips on YT.

I'd watch any cook contest before I would watch Ramsey. His shows are boring. What? He swears alot? Who cares, the guy's a bore.

I love watching Chef Gordan Ramsey especially the cook off shows where one wins a head chef job at a famous restaurant. I don't care for his language at all but I'm very thankful the network blocks it out. I think many could learn a great deal about cooking if they were to listen and study what he's telling the contestants about the preparation their part of the meal. For those who don't care to watch him--you have the choice of changing the channel if you prefer.
I rate the show a high 10 but would request less foul language used that requires beeping out. My family would love to see more of his shows.
