McHale vs. Seacrest - April Fool's Edition

Joel McHale on Ryan Seacrest's Web siteThe feud between Joel McHale and Ryan Seacrest heated up yesterday when the 'Community' and 'The Soup' star redesigned Seacrest's web site for April Fool's Day. The site was packed with McHale-related photos, audio clips, video clips, and links. The 'American Idol' banner ads showed McHale's photo. Even the Twitter link went to McHale's account, where he disclosed Seacrest's Twitter password to be "hairlesslittlechoirboybody."

According to Entertainment Weekly's Popwatch column, the site was crippled with traffic for a portion of the day, but was available later. McHale's Facebook update, shown on the right side of the site, asked readers to help crash the site again and to keep visiting Seacrest's Twitter account.

It was worth the visit. When viewers were able to log on, they were greeted with the McHalized version of the site, and a large photo of McHale at the top with the words, "Welcome To the All-New I'm Joel. I've taken over Ryan's website and treehouse. Anyone know how to bake cookies?"

All of the video clips were culled from 'American Idol' segments on 'The Soup,' including "The House of Sanjaya" bit about the giant-coiffed former contestant's hair salon for men. All in all, it was a pretty complete takedown, and looked to have been the result of a fair amount of effort.

McHale mentions Seacrest frequently in his stand-up, on 'The Soup,' and Seacrest has even come up on 'Community.' But it's clear from the audio clips that the two are friendly. In the first clip, named "Joel McHale," Seacrest calls McHale out for making fun of him. McHale says Seacrest is obviously the more powerful of the two, and has "all the jobs," and adds, "When you behead Tom Cruise and gain his power you will become our supreme leader."

As to Seacrest's opinion of the hack, he posted about it on Twitter: "lol, fun day with those @joelmchale tweets...but yes! April Fools. What...u think I just leave my password laying around???"
