'E! True Hollywood Story' Takes on Tiger Woods

by Harley W. Lond, posted Apr 5th 2010 7:11PM
Just as Tiger Woods hunkered down for a press conference at Augusta, Ga, for the 2010 Masters Golf Tournament, which runs Thursday through Sunday on ESPN and CBS, 'E! True Hollywood Story' announced Monday that it will devote an upcoming episode to the scandal and fallout involving the golf star.

According to Broadcasting & Cable, the hour-long episode will reveal how rumors of Woods' indiscretions existed well before they were made public, and will also include an interview with one of Woods' high school girlfriends. The show will also key in on the golf prodigy's career, his relationship with his father, his rise and then scandalized -- though most likely temporary -- slip from stardom.Just as Tiger Woods hunkered down for a press conference at Augusta, Ga, for the 2010 Masters Golf Tournament, which runs Thursday through Sunday on ESPN and CBS, 'E! Woods, who has pretty much been out of the limelight since allegations of sexual peccadilloes surfaced last November, stood before a pretty friendly press and fielded few probing questions during the press conference.

According to PopEater, Salon and Variety, among other outlets who weighed in on Woods' press conference, the general feeling was that the press was pretty tame in questioning the golf star. Variety's Brian Lowry, pulling no punches, said that "Unlike the vast majority of those drawn to his story, they (the golf press) seemed far more concerned with his putts than his putz ... In the Woodward and Bernstein department, it was a below-par performance, with Woods facing relatively few tough angles or hard lies." Still, aren't these scandals much ado about nothing? As Lowry summed it up: "Watching the sober give and take, it sort of made you wonder what President Obama was up to and what other newsworthy stuff we might actually be missing."

Interestingly, the 'E! True Hollywood Story' treatment of Woods will air well after the Masters is over, on Apr. 14 at 10PM ET.
