Kimmel to Do a One-Hour Special After 'Lost' Finale

by Brad Trechak, posted Apr 5th 2010 12:38PM
Jimmy KimmelJimmy Kimmel is no stranger to 'Lost.' He's been doing parody sketches of the show since its first season. Remember when Jimmy revealed that the Smoke Monster was actually Cookie Monster?

It's entirely appropriate that shortly after the two-hour series finale on May 23rd, ABC will be broadcasting "Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to 'Lost'" which will include interviews with the cast and an appearance by showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse.

It's nice when a show has a definitive ending and the network can make a big cross-promotional deal about it, possibly pulling in some extra advertising revenue to boot. Hopefully ABC won't get desperate and start a follow-up series called 'After-Lost'. Or even worse, 'Found.'

One can also hope that the cast doesn't get drunk and act like complete imbeciles like the cast of 'Cheers' did on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' after that show wrapped up. No letting Sawyer near the punch bowl.

Anyone know the song at the end of the Aloha To Lost episode when they showed the characters doing different things after the finale? It had a great Ska beat...

This Kimmel stunt is obviously trying to promote the ad time for Lost. I don't blame the move either, considering it costs 900k to run an ad at the time. http://www.weltbranding.com/blog/

Wow, Les, you obviously never watch Kimmel. He's way underrated as a hilarious late night host, and I adore his Lost commentaries. Bring on the "Aloha to Lost" special!!

I wouldnt watch anything Jimmy Kimmel was involved withHe is a disgusting.. Kimmel should just get lost instead of his commentating the Finale! individual along with David Letterman, they sank to new lows with thier jealous remarks about Leno! Interview Kimmels ex wife that should be more entertaining!

And here I thought the show was going to be about the cast and showrunners, not the mc. I think the pick was based more on the fact that they'd all be interviewed by an outspoken fan of the series.

The only issue I have is that Jimmy is going to be light and funny about everywhere, where I want someone like James Lipton. I can give a crap about the hosts' office politics. Like Ferguson says, they are there to sell dvd's and shamwows. Don't take it so seriously.
