'Gossip Girl' - 'Inglorious Bassterds' Recap

Gossip Girl(S03E17) "He is sitting down with Satan this morning." - Blair about Chuck

Mark your calendars, everyone, because all the teen/tweens of the show were in the same building at the same time! That even includes Eric, who finally returned to the show.

But that wasn't the important event of the episode. Actually, Nate's birthday party and Vanessa and Dan's relationship problems were only filler when compared to what happened between Satan Jack, Chuck and Blair. "Oh. My God." is all I can say about the twists and turns of this storyline!

I knew Chuck was going to do something terrible in this episode. Before seeing 'Inglorious Bassterds,' I thought that maybe Chuck would enlists Blair's help in getting the hotel back and that maybe it would involve an 'Indecent Proposal'-type of trick. Never did I think Chuck would stoop as low as he did.

I can somewhat understand where Chuck is coming from. As he told Blair, she did tell him that she would stand by her man through the dark times. To Chuck, this was such a dark time, and he was sure Blair would see it that way, too. Blair does love Chuck, as she proved this week by agreeing to sleep with Jack in order to get the hotel/empire back. However, him going behind Blair's back and playing tricks to have her go to Jack without asking her upfront was a low blow.

Blair has been loyal to Chuck and was there through his hardships. Why did Chuck think it wouldn't have worked if he asked? He has seen Blair pull off quite the master plans in the past, and she would have surely been able to pull that one off, too. Chuck, Chuck, Chuck! I'm disappointed. Then again, this adds a lot of drama to the show. Chuck was clearly blinded by his need for power and to prove his father wrong. Otherwise, he would have seen the error of his ways and that tricking the woman you love into sleeping with your uncle cannot have a fairytale ending.

I'm a "Chair" or a "Bluck," however, as Chuck+Blair shippers are called, so this turn of events is not a fun one for me. I've read over and over again that the show's Powers That Be have a plan for the couple and that TV couples need to have problems to be interesting and to keep viewers coming back. But did they need to have Chuck do such a bad thing to Blair? Having him ask her to sleep with Jack could have rocked the couple, too! Imagine if Blair had slept with Jack after Chuck asked her. Would Chuck be able to see Blair the same way? Would Blair be able to forgive herself for sleeping with Jack even if it was to help Chuck? See? It could have put the couple on the rocks for a few weeks.

In other 'Gossip Girl' news, Dan and Vanessa are as boring as ever. However, it may get interesting for at least one episode if Vanessa gets in the Tisch Program and Dan doesn't. Elsewhere, Jenny tries to get her hands back on Nate. He doesn't seem interested, but that may not stop her until it's too late. Eric meets someone new. Still no news about Lily. The best news of the episode: Dorota gets engaged!!!

Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick both proved just how much they need their own show since they are the only ones on this show that can act. Blair's devestation in her final scene with Chuck, the way she was both scared and disgusted while with Jack, and then Chuck being so completely numb and detached throughout the entire episode - it was all wonderfully acted by the both of them. And Dorota should definitely be on the new show with them :)

Dan and Vanessa... what is their purpose? Even when they're at Nate's party, playing Assasins, it is still the two of them having their lame problems and lame relationship that no one cares about.

i agree, the rest of the cast is just filler, except for jenny, who i think is interesting too. i think she is a female version of chuck.
