New TV on DVD for April 6: 'King of the Hill,' 'Ally McBeal' and More

The last week has been filled with important cultural and religious holidays. Passover. Easter. April Fool's Day. But while we're all about observing holidays with the family and taking a moment out of our busy schedules to remember what's important in life, we're worried that this convergence of celebrations may have obscured one of the most important holidays of all: New TV DVD Release Tuesday.

Luckily, if you were too busy punking your Rabbi to get to the local mall, all is not lost, because we've been working around the clock to make sure that everyone gets a chance to buy the best of this week's new DVD releases. And at the top of our special post-Holiday list? Why, it's 'King of the Hill,' of course. The last week has been filled with important cultural and religious holidays. Passover. Easter. And at the top of our special post-Holiday list? Why, it's 'King of the Hill,' of course.

Sure, 'King of the Hill' has come to an end, but if you buy 'King of the Hill Season 6,' you'll be able to watch the adventures of Hank Hill and company for the rest of your natural life. That's got to count for something, right?

And if that's not your cup of tea, maybe another classic Fox show is: 'Ally McBeal,' for instance, introduced the phrase "dancing CGI ghost baby" to the world. You can relive those glory days with 'Ally McBeal: Season 2.'

But the holiday season isn't just for the faithful and fans of Fox. No, for all the atheists and agnostics out there, you can celebrate the season in your own style thanks to the latest 'MythBusters' collection, 'MythBusters: Collection 5.'

Still, we figure that the inimitable, timeless banter between brother Rick and A. J. Simon on the classic hit 'Simon & Simon' is enough to make anyone into a true believer, so we recommend checking out the full length dose of 80's action 'Simon & Simon: Season Four.' That was a good season, from what we remember.

Switching gears a bit, anyone out there enjoy stories about the undead? Well, way back when 'Twilight' was just a cool word for dusk, 'Blood Ties' was thrilling TV audiences with its gripping depiction of vampires. Way back in 2007, that is. Anyway, see what all the fuss was about with 'Blood Ties: The Complete Series.'

There's no easy way to segue from blood suckers to the Kardashians, so we'll just announce that 'Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami' is available this week for you to purchase. You're welcome.

And finally, a week of DVD releases wouldn't be complete without a mention of our good friends across the pond. This week the BBC has outdone itself thanks to 'Sharpe's Peril,' the latest adventure of Sean Bean and his ragtag troupe of sharpshooting 19th century soldiers. Good show, chaps. Good show indeed.
