According to the Hollywood Reporter, Winningham, who won an Emmy for 1998's 'George Wallace,' will play Pierce's best friend, Ida Corwin, a part originated by Eve Arden in the Oscar-winning 1945 movie starring Joan Crawford.

Oscar-nominated director Todd Haynes ('Far From Heaven,' 'I'm Not There') will direct the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Raymond. Filming will reportedly begin this spring.
